Mobil clinics, Kalimantan

In 2008, I led a Médecins du Monde mission in Kalimantan, the Indonesian part of the island of Borneo. During one month, the medical team visited several isolated villages in the Malinau region. The only way to reach Long Lemunjung, Long Tepuh Rian, Kuala Avang and other villages is by pirogues and long walks. In each of these villages, doctor, nurses and medical assistants vaccinate children, provide first aid, raise awareness about STDs, provide mosquito nets, etc.
